Milkshake builds a little website on your phone. HeyBio moves clicks off it without losing them.
Milkshake is the odd one out in this category, and that is meant as a compliment. It is not really a list of buttons. It is a mobile website builder that produces swipeable cards, edited entirely from a phone app, and the results look considerably more designed than a stack of links.
That difference makes the comparison cleaner than usual. If you want a small, attractive website you can build on the bus, Milkshake is a better product than HeyBio and it is not close.
HeyBio is not competing on design. It is competing on what happens between the tap and the destination, which is where adult creators lose subscribers.

Who Milkshake is genuinely better for
Milkshake is the right answer for a lot of people.
It is free to a genuinely useful degree. Unlimited links and cards, QR sharing, selling digital files through Stripe, and 30 days of insights, without paying anything. The paid tiers are also cheap: removing branding starts under 3 dollars a month, and custom domains arrive around 8 to 10 dollars.
It looks better out of the box. Swipeable cards, real typography and templates that were designed rather than assembled. HeyBio has fixed layouts and does not pretend otherwise.
It sells digital products natively. If you want to take payment for a file without leaving your bio page, Milkshake does that through Stripe and HeyBio does not process payments at all.
It is phone-first, which suits how most creators actually work. Building a HeyBio page on a phone is possible but the experience assumes a keyboard.
The honest limitation is the same as its strength: it is an app-led product, so you edit from the app, and what you get is a small site rather than a conversion-focused funnel.
Who is better off with HeyBio
Choose HeyBio when the page is a step in a funnel and every lost tap is money.
A beautifully designed card still opens inside Instagram's internal browser, and that browser usually cannot reach the visitor's saved logins. Someone who already subscribes to your platform arrives logged out, sees a login wall, and leaves. Design does not fix that. HeyBio pushes the click out to the phone's real browser and then reports how many clicks that rescued.
Geo filtering per link is the second reason, and Milkshake has no equivalent. Individual buttons can be hidden by country, failing closed when the country is unknown.
The third is that HeyBio's analytics are shaped around this one job: clicks per link, per country, per source, and the rescued-click count. Milkshake's insights tell you about a website. HeyBio's tell you about a funnel.
If your traffic is not coming from in-app browsers, or you are not selling a subscription at the other end, this advantage is worth nothing to you and Milkshake is the better buy.
Moving from Milkshake without losing followers
- Build your HeyBio page at heybio.io/yourname before touching the Milkshake site. Nothing goes public until you say so.
- Milkshake cards often hold more than links, so decide what carries over. Text and photos can move; embedded card layouts cannot.
- If you sell digital files through Milkshake's Stripe integration, keep that running or move the sale to your platform first. HeyBio does not process payments.
- Copy links in priority order and open each destination once to confirm it still works.
- Configure geo rules while the page is still private, not after launch.
- Change your bio link last, and leave the Milkshake site up for a few weeks so older posts still land somewhere.
Questions
Is Milkshake free?
Yes, with a real free tier: unlimited links and cards, QR sharing, Stripe file sales and 30 days of insights, with Milkshake branding on the page. Lite removes the branding for under 3 dollars a month, and custom domains sit on Pro+.
Can I build a HeyBio page from my phone?
You can, but it is a browser-based editor and it assumes a keyboard for anything longer than a link. Milkshake is genuinely better on a phone and we are not going to claim otherwise.
Does HeyBio take payments like Milkshake does?
No. HeyBio does not process payments at all. Your buttons point at the platform where you already sell, which is deliberate: it keeps us out of your payment relationship and out of the compliance questions that come with it.
Which looks better?
Milkshake, in most cases. It produces designed cards, not a list of buttons. HeyBio uses fixed layouts because the job is throughput, not presentation.
So why choose HeyBio at all?
One reason: clicks that die in the Instagram and TikTok in-app browser, and the geo control that goes with selling adult content across borders. If neither applies to you, Milkshake is the better product for your situation.
